Lore: The black and white version of this image was printed on a large banner when I had a booth behind me mentor, Larry Elmore. And older man with a beard, hat, and suspenders pointed to my art and said “that one”. This was Dragon Con in… 2004-2005? As I was processing the credit card, I said the name out loud. “George RR Martin” why does that sound so familiar?” He responded and said that he was a writer. I told him if he ever needed cover art, I’d be interested and gave him my card. I had never read the books but later found out when he liked the name “Nightwatch”.
