Cocoon
In the silvery moonlight glistening off the sinewy threads protecting the fairy, undergoing a transition from old to new, the fairy’s hand bursts through the silvery threads into the cool night air, breaking free of the old and becoming new.
This image depicts a fairy emerging from a cocoon, representing a moment of transformation and growth. The message of the work was one of shedding the past and moving forward to new ideas and directions. This painting was created using watercolors and white gesso on watercolor paper, finished in 2004. Cocoon received special recognition by the artist community known as Elfwood.
